Hi there, I found out about Mori Girl and Natural Kei today, and I was wondering if you could explain the differences and similarities of the two? I saw the post on the dif between Mori and Dolly, and the post on what Natural Kei was, but I'm not quite sure of the style differences between "forest" and "peasant chic." Thanks!
Hi ^^
Natural kei is a much older style than Mori, dating back to the 70s. It is a pastoral, historical or period look whereas Mori is more fairy-tale forest. The two styles do overlap a lot however there are some things which are only one or the other. Here are some examples:
Natural Kei only

both

Mori Girl only

Naturally, there is A LOT of grey area here. Some things one person would call Natural Kei, another would call Mori. Some outfits can be distinctly one or the other, but quite a lot could be either. It really depends what the wearer identifies as. Mori is somewhat a result of experimenting with Natural kei, so it’s only expected that they look a lot alike!

2) Who is/are your mori girl idols? who inspires your fashion? [x]
All the beautiful mori girls and boys in the tags here on Tumblr. Just about every coord the-woods-call-me puts together - though occasionally with slight adjustments - are exactly what I am more or less aiming for and I am so jealous of all the pieces she owns. :3 I also love unseeliegrimoire and shortcuttothestars though both tend towards dark mori which isn’t the direction I’m going in (that doesn’t mean I don’t get inspiration from them)!
I also get plenty of inspiration from the sellers such as thebuttonfaery or Taobao and Mori Girl Clothing at Steampunk Couture. (Pst, Mori Girl Clothing’s coords for their pieces are what I originally saw here on Tumblr. :3 )
:3 oh my gosh!! I am so flattered to be an inspiration for you! Someday soon I’ll start doing some actual outfit posts. I definitely do lean dark mori, particularly in the colder months, but I am going to try to get some lighter pieces for the summer! (I love wearing black but man, hard to hike in that.)

Hi ;3 I got a $50 gift card to h&m. Could you please help me coordinate a mori girl outfit with items from that store? :3 thankies <333
٩(•̤̀ᵕ•̤́๑)ᵒᵏᵎᵎᵎᵎ I will try my best c: It really depends on which color scheme of mori girl you tend to lean towards, whether its more creamy/pastel tones or earthy/neutrals (a little more natural kei). Whichever your preference, I just made a couple of options for you on polyvore to give you some visual ideas c: I left the links to the sets, and all of the items are from H&M!! I hope this helps you out!! If you can, please let me know what you end up getting ♡^▽^♡!!! - leiya
i can already tell acraftymorigirl is going to be an amazing blog. who is running it? :3 Love it so far!!!
By the way, Tina Givens patterns are PERFECT for mori girls who want to sew their own clothes. There are 5 basic patterns available for FREE, and one of them is a pair of pants that are perfect for mori! Thought I would share. :)
Found some sellers of some mori type clothing on amazon. Anyone have experience with these brands and would like to share that experience?
why do i keep seeing things about not wearing shorter items of clothing in mori? (or having to layer excessively)
rly not true, as far as i’m aware forests aren’t in the constant state of winter, mori (or natural kei if you want to include hama and yama in this) is meant to look like you’ve adapted to your surroundings. - fabrics and colours are more important in mori
